Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Old Rag
In my ongoing quest to avoid having the quintessential UVA experience, I am trading not-watching-horses in a field for not-watching-horses on a mountain & would be honored to have you join me! Old Rag is one of the best hikes in Virginia & offers some gorgeous 360 degree views. It’s an 8 mile round trip with a fair amount of rock scrambling and about 2500 ft elevation gain. The trip should take about 8 hours total.
It’s a little hard to tell what the weather is going to look like this far in advance, but I’ll be in touch if it looks horrendous.
DRIVERS NEEDED & will be reimbursed for gas (plus a 30% tip)!! Everyone will be wait listed until we find someone with the good fortune of having a car.
Priority goes to drivers & national park pass holders!
What to bring:
Hiking boots/sturdy shoes
water (2-3 liters)
Lunch & snacks
A camera, if that’s your thing
Layers/weather-appropriate clothing
$5.00 (for parking)
