Corner Of Echols Dorm

Blue Ridge Tunnel Trail, East Trailhead, Afton Depot Lane, Afton, VA, USA
Hello everyone, we are once again asking you to go on a hike. This time to the Blue Ridge Tunnel. It’s probably more accurate to call this a walk as the there is almost no elevation change and its only 3 miles in length.
Designed by Claudius Crozet (for whom the town of Crozet was named), the Blue Ridge Tunnel served as a railway for the Virginia Central Railroad. Now, its open to the public. Let’s check it out.
The Plan:
9:00 AM Leave from Echols
9:30 AM Arrive and start walking
11:00 AM Back to car
11:30 AM Back to grounds
These times are tentative but we should definitely be back by noon.
The tunnel is dark. Bring FLASHLIGHTS. It will also likely be chilly so dress appropriately.
