Chimney Hollow Traipse

OVERVIEW

If you’re from a certain part of the country, you can appreciate this:
We’re hiking Chimney Holler Trail. (Holla!) It’s located in the George Washington National Forest-one of the last voluptuous virgin forests-an hour’s drive west of C’ville. The hike is a 1500 ft. elevation climb over 3 miles where the canopy opens up for a peek of the Deerfield valley and beyond. For those who weren’t at NRGE last week or have been too absorbed with midterms: Autumn is here and the leaves are gorgeous! Get outside and enjoy Virginia’s favorite season!
We leave from Echols at noon on Friday and get back before 6, depending on what time we’re on the road again, so plan to stop for lunch. I can guarantee there will be stop(s) at one of the local convenience stores for coffee and/or goodies on the way.
For what it’s worth, there is a decent chance of rain on Friday. Keep an eye out on the weather as it is constantly changing (Highs in mid 60’s). Additional info on the trail at http://www.hikingupward.com/GWNF/ChimneyHollowElliotKnob/
Lastly, I do not have my car with me, so as soon as a driver signs up, we’re in business.
