OVERVIEW

Club-wide emails aren’t working, so we’ve created an adventure!

Gear Room Schedule:
Monday: 5:30pm -> Mason Riffee (434) 509-8678
Tuesday: 6:00pm -> Anna Cuddeback (617) 230-7261

Thursday: 2:00pm -> Burke Haywood (540) 817-4002
Fri:
Sat:
Sun:

If none of these times work for you, please email the officers outdoors-officers@virginia.edu at least 24 hours in advance to schedule a separate time to be let into the gear room. Please only do this if you really can’t make the gear room times, not just because you don’t feel like it or didn’t plan ahead.

We will try to keep it consistent throughout the semester, but make sure you check for any changes. You may stop by the gear room to check out or return gear and be reimbursed at any of the listed times. Please text the officer leading the gear room if you will be late. Officers remain at the gear room only for as long as people are checking in/out gear (usually about 20-25 minutes). You may also purchase ODC t-shirts, hoo rags, bucket hats, patches, stickers, and more at the gear room!

For the remainder of the COVID-19 pandemic, gear must be requested prior to attending a gear room. Each week, there will be a gear request form that is sent with the week’s gear rooms, on which members can request items for checkout and specify on what day they will come to the gear room. Gear requests are subject to availability, and we cannot guarantee that all our gear will be available as frequently as during normal operation due to the need for gear cleaning. At the gear room, gear will be distributed outside the door at the top of the stairs by the officers staffing the gear room. Officers staffing the gear rooms will be wearing a mask and gloves. Members wishing to check out gear should wait in line outside of the gear room wearing masks and maintaining a minimum distance of six feet whenever possible.

Please fill out this form by 8am on the day you would like to check out gear: https://forms.gle/BrkW1fhbcJ4XgPA76

And make sure you have filled out our COVID-19 Gear Waiver prior to checking out gear: https://docs.google.com/document/d/1ezhCyrI9NkpLDfDjsmbqvicTB3tIH62OSq1-_PLoi0Q/edit?usp=sharing

Peace, love, and dirt,

Phillip and the Officers

BEFORE RETURNING GEAR REFER TO THE GEAR CLEANING DOC BELOW

–https://docs.google.com/document/d/1bUsjBA8Hy_MyyoLGIpkYciH3lTVKB-9fjO2ZfhXowdY/edit

If you return damaged, dirty, or incomplete gear, you will jeopardize your ability to check out gear in the future. It is your responsibility, not the officers, to return your gear in the condition you received it.

Please refer to our reimbursement policy here.

You can check our gear inventory here.

If you want to check out any water sports gear or a mountain bike, please email the officers at outdoors-officers@virginia.edu. They are stored at separate locations. We ask that you give at least 24 hours notice for mountain bikes and 4 days notice for water sports gear.

Gear is due one week from when it is checked out. Keeping gear past its due date is a UVA Honor Offense.

Reminders-

Gear:
All club-gear is due back within 1 week unless renewed by a Gear Room Officer
Club trips have priority for access to club gear

Leading Trips:

Once you’ve got an idea for a specific trip that you want to lead, send the officers an email with a description and your qualifications for leading that sort of trip. Remember, climbing, caving, and kayaking trips have special rules!

Please take some time to read through the Leaders Manual (http://www.outdoorsatuva.org/resources/?LeadersManual) and Leading Trips (http://www.outdoorsatuva.org/resources/?LeadingTrips) pages under Member Resources on the club website.

Absences:

Please be aware that if you are joined on a trip, and you do not show up, or you drop out at the last minute, you are depriving another member of a spot on that trip.

No-shows and last-minute absences not only hurt trip attendance, but they also make logistics more complicated.

If a member is reported for two absences, trip leaders are permitted to take this into account when moving people off wait lists.

Social Media:

Check out the ever-snazzy Facebook Group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/OutdoorsAtUVA/) and Instagram (https://www.instagram.com/uvaoutdoors/)
