Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
The E-School has finally gifted me with a small window of opportunity to shred and I intend to make the most of it by not suffering on the climbs, but rather flying down the descents.
I will be leading a trip on Sunday October 9th to Bryce Mountain Bike park in Bayse, VA. For those of you who haven’t been or heard of the park, it is a lift assisted gravity park,i.e. you take a ski chairlift to the top of the mountain and then shred one of the many mountain bike specific trails on the way down. It is an absolute blast and one of my favorite places to bike. The chairlift allows you time to relax and take in the views and the trails are sculpted to perfection.
Leave UVA at 8:30 AM, this will get us there by 10 for opening.
Shred for 4 hours, this will get us around 10 runs top to bottom in and leave you exhausted but wanting more
Return to UVA by 5 at the latest (probably more like 4)
Pass: A lift pass does need to be purchased. This is $30
Bikes: Bryce does have the option to rent real downhill bikes. See the prices here http://www.bryceresort.com/Summer/Bike-Park-Hours-Rates.aspx#Hours
What you need to bring:
A bike (I will try and find some club bikes)
Biking worthy clothes
All the food and water can be left in the cars at the bottom and gotten too at any point, so don’t worry about bringing a backpack if you don’t want to.
Unfortunately I do need drivers for this trip. My tiny car can only fit my bike and three more people (no bikes). Bryce is very beginner friendly but it definitely helps to have some experience. There is only 1 green trail but there is a bunch of blue and black trails.
