Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
I want to do a local ride tomorrow and need a change from OHill and WCP. The Rivanna trail is just the ticket (though some of its trails are continuous with OHill trails). The terrain is mostly gentle rolling hills (aka “flat”), but the distance is long (20-25 miles). I’d like to ride from around 4:30-7:00-ish, and don’t really care how far we get, which will depend on the group. If we’re still on the trail at around 7pm, we’ll hop on the nearest stretch of road and take the pavement back to Echols. I haven’t done the Rivanna trail in a couple of years, not since it has been finished anyway, so this will be something of an explorative trip. Because of its distance it is a lot like doing a long epic ride in the mountains, but because of the terrain it is relatively easy. All experience levels welcome!
The Club provides the bikes and helmets. You should wear athletic clothes. The Club also has water bottles that fit nicely in the cages, but you may want to bring some water or your favorite sports drink, and some snacks.
