Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Three Ridges
Have you ever wanted to learn the basics of outdoor survival in cold weather without all of your modern camping gear? In this adventure we will walk a ways in from the trailhead at Love Gap and then build a shelter out of forest debris, learn some of the basics of tracking animals and humans and how to start a fire without matches using the bow drill method used by Native Americans and other cultures worldwide. We will also identify a couple of useful edible plants in this adventure.
Please bring your own woodcarving knife, if you are interested in learning firemaking, lunch, and plenty of water to drink as it will be physically demanding! See you soon.
