We’ve never hiked McAfee Knob. Time to change that, as apparently this is one of Virginia’s best hikes or something. Go figure.
Not gonna write a super long trail description, but the hike we’re doing is about 8 miles, and 1700 ft of elevation gain – nothing too crazy but not necessarily a walk at Riverview Park. It’s about a 2 hour drive. The plan is to leave Echols at 8:30am and drive the two hours, hike (should take around 4 hours), then drive home to be back around 4:30. I’m planning to drive and can bring 3 additional people w/me, but I’m going to add a question about driving and if there’s enough interest + someone to drive, I’ll add more people to the trip. potential drivers, you can get gas reimbursed + a tip.
What to bring?
-water + snacks/lunch
-shoes to hike in
-layers – definitely gonna be chilly on the mountain
