Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Old Rag
For those of you still in town this weekend, let’s take a trip out to Old Rag! This is a very challenging hike with rock scrambles. If you’ve never done it before, make sure to read the description by following the Hiking Upward link below. It’s a 9 mile loop, and should take about 6 hours (including a lunch break). The leaves are starting to turn, so we should get incredible views, and the weather looks wonderful this weekend. Since this hike goes along the ridge for a while, there are many opportunities for views.
The plan: Meet at Echols Dorm at 7:00 AM and drive about 1 hour and 15 minutes to get there. Hopefully by getting there early we will beat some of the crowds. It’s a very popular hike, especially on weekends. I have built in some extra time, so we should be back by 4:00 PM.
