Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Old Rag
Finals week is already filling me with angst, and what better way to work it off than climbing a mountain?? Old Rag is one of the best hikes in Virginia & offers some gorgeous 360 degree views. It’s an 8 mile round trip with a fair amount of rock scrambling and about 2500 ft elevation gain. The trip should take about 8 hours total. Since it is ~almost~ winter make sure to bring appropriate layers!! I’m talking about gloves + hat + extra sweats + warm, wind-resistant coat. Better to have to strip off a few layers then freeze to death on the summit. I’ll be in touch if the weather looks (dangerously) horrendous.
DRIVERS NEEDED & will be reimbursed for gas (plus a 50% tip)!! Everyone will be wait listed until we find someone with the good fortune of having a car.
Priority goes to drivers & national park pass holders!!!
What to bring:
– Hiking boots/sturdy shoes
– water (2-3 liters)
– Lunch & snacks
– A camera, if that’s your thing
– Layers/weather-appropriate clothing!
– $5.00 (for parking)
