Red River Gorge, KY
It’s Thanksgiving break! I for one am thankful for steep sandstone and and potential for a great trip of climbing. So join me for a 4-day climbing trip to one of North America’s premier climbing destinations, the Red River Gorge
The current plan is for to leave town on Thursday (11/22), at 5AM . We will be returning to Charlottesville late on Sunday (11/25) night. These departure times are somewhat flexible, just email me if these times don’t quite work for you.
Breakfasts and lunches will be provided but we will be eating out for dinners. Lodging is not nailed down 100% yet, but we will either be camping at Miguel’s or staying in a nice warm schwanky cabin. To be safe you should bring $60 cash to cover things like extra cabin fees, eating out, souvenirs and the like.
Trip Requirements: Know how to tie in and belay a top rope. Able to climb 5.10 solid on top rope. Feel free to sign up and email me if you are unsure.
You provide: Plenty of water, personal climbing gear you own, snacks, money, backpack, warm clothes (chilly in the mountains, expect below freezing at night), towel, toiletries, headlamp, first aid kit, tent, warm sleeping bag, sleeping pad, approach shoes, camera, and good karma.
Club Provides: Ga$ money for drivers or ride in a car, any camping/climbing gear you do not own, camping, food, and a romping good time in the backwoods of Kentucky.
If you need any gear, you need to go get it yourself from the gear room on Tuesday or Thursday.
Drivers and lead climbers/belayers get priority.
