Shredmas Day 11: Humpday Humpback pt. 2

OVERVIEW

Note: This trip is liable to be canceled due to road closures on the Blue Ridge Parkway so stay tuned

On the eleventh day of shredmas Emily Buerk gave to me a humpday humpback sunrise, ten bikers biking, nine cups of cocoa, eight hikers hiking, seven climbers climbing, six peeps belaying, fiiiiiive campfire siiiings! four alpine draws, three 23’s, two biking gloves, and a gnartridge in a pear tree.

~ Here’s the plan ~
– Meet at echols at 5:50 am
– Leave Echols NO LATER THAN 5:55 am
– Get to trailhead around 6:40 am
– 30 to 40ish minute hike up depending on how fast you hike
– 7:26am watch the sunrise over the mountain
– 7:30 hike back to the cars
– 7:55 am depart trailhead and arrive back to Charlottesville around 8:40, just in time for 9:00 ams

~ You will need ~
1-2L of water
A headlamp or flashlight (headlamp strongly encouraged)
Snacks if you want those
LAYERS bc it will be pretty cold out
Sturdy shoes

~ Drivers ~
– We love and need your (car) driving ability!
– Club pays for gas + 50% tip! (must have a full tank when we leave)

~ about Shredmas ~
Twas the night before Shredmas and all through the Grounds
Not a student was studying, they were all out of town
They were hiking, trail running, and climbing on rocks
All while wearing their best SmartWool socks

The students were ready to get out and shred,
While each had a headlamp worn bright on their head.
For 12 days of magic they continued to send
And wished that Shredmas wouldn’t come to an end.

But alas, all too soon, it was the very last day,
But the good news was Moab is just two months away!
So remember this, and don’t feel too hurt—
I wish you all a good life full of peace, love, and dirt.
