Sunrise Hike to Bearfence Mountain + Morning Tea

OVERVIEW

Let’s start our Sunday right by heading up to one of my favorite sunrise/sunset spots: Bearfence Mountain. It’s a quick, 1-mile hike with a nice baby rock scramble. If you scrambling over rocks, this is a great one! Note that we will be doing the rock scramble in the dark, so it is advisable to bring a headlamp.

I will be bringing my camp stove for some nice herbal tea, and will have plenty to share. If you would like to partake, please bring your own mug. If you would like a beverage other than herbal tea (caffeinated tea, instant coffee, hot cocoa, instant cider, etc.), please feel free to bring a mug and a package of whatever you’d like to make.

Schedule:
5:00 – Leave Echols
6:00 – Arrive at trailhead and start hiking
6:30 – Arrive at summit, brew beverages, and watch the sun rise
7:00 – Sunrise and start hiking back to car
8:30 – Back at Echols

Recommended gear:
Headlamp (we will be doing the rock scramble in the dark)
Water
Comfy hiking clothes
Jacket/blanket in case it gets cold
Snack/breakfast
Mug for beverages
Tea bags/instant drink packets for any beverages you might want other than herbal tea
