Blue Ridge Parkway
Come join me watch the sunset at 8pm from a nice view-point over the Shenandoah Valley after a level 1/2-mile hike. Saturday weather forecast is sunny with mild temperatures – but bring a cap, gloves and
jacket, because it could be windy (or not ;8-).
I will have some hot water for tea/coffee/hot chocolate as well as a camping stove to warm up your dinner (I will be eating chilli).
Iridium 77 satellite will have really a bright flare (-7.1!) predicted for
8:09pm, even with moon up we should be able to see it (I think) …
Distance: 1 mile total (1/2 mile there, 1/2 mile back)
Total Elevation Gain: ~50 feet
Technical Challenge: None, a few rocky parts
Hiking Pace: average
Things to bring: liter of water, camera, hiking shoes/boots, snacks, non-cotton layers, flashlight/headlamp.
P.S. I’ll open the outing to more people if additional drivers sign up.
