Ray's Campground (Hico, WV)
New River Gorge National Park, West Virginia, USA
New River Gorge has a dearth of longgggggg hikes but a plethora of short and popular ones. So let’s hit the natural tourist traps in NRG and even have a little fun surprise at the endddd. The plan is to his Endless Wall (4.8 miles) first because it gets really crowded due to the AWESOME views of the gorge. Next, we will take a trip across the bridge to Long Point (3.2 miles) and get another POV of the river. Lastly, we will head over to Babcock State Park for a little dip at their swimming hole to cool off and hang out until we tire. I am looking for a driver, so please sign up and join me for THREE trips in one. Once you have been let off the waitlist for the trip go sign up for the main carpool and pay the trip fee! Can’t wait to see everyone!!!
Here’s the plan:
9:00am: meet at campground
9:30am: arrive at endless wall trailhead
11:30am: return to the car with LOTS of photos
12:00pm: get to the long point trailhead
1:20pm: return to the car with MORE photos
1:50pm: get to Babcock state park and take a dip
3-4ish pm: return to campground
To bring:
-good hiking shoes (duh)
-lunch (or we could stop at the campground before babcock)
– water! hydrate
– clothes that can get wet
-a towel (or you can doggy shake like me)
