OVERVIEW

Blue Ridge Mountain Sports writes, “One of the classic hikes in Shenandoah National Park. Two great views and some of the most beautiful falls and pools in the park make this hike outstanding.” We’ll backpack in about 7 miles, catch some views and waterfalls along the way, and camp out among beautiful autumn colors. Close to where we’ll camp is a cave we can explore. On Sunday we’ll hike about 2.5 miles back to the car and return to Cville.

Please show up Saturday morning with your luggage, and we’ll give you a backpack, sleeping bag, etc. to transfer your stuff into. We’ll also go shopping for dinner and breakfast at that time.

Outdoors at UVa provides:

Dinner, breakfast, gas money, and if you need: backpacking, camping, and caving gear; and a seat in a car.

You must bring:

Please pack Saturday lunch, 1 liter of water (two half-liter / 16-oz. bottles might be most convenient), preferably waterproof hiking boots (but sneakers o.k.), toilet paper, flashlight, warm clothes, gloves, hat, and spooky bedtime stories. See also internet link for reference.
