Evan Kulp

President & Co-climbng ADVISOR | he/him

From rural Bulgaria to the depths of the Arctic, Evan loves to jubilantly gallivant in search of good times. While he has a real knack for eating batteries, he knows friendship is the most important thing. Though he'll say yes to pretty much anything, his primary fixations are climbing (ask him about trad!!), doing messed up hikes, skiing, and eating stuff he finds in the woods. If looking for him, your best bet is to go to Staples and ask if a man named Fredrick Woodpile is in. They'll say no, but they should hand you a maroon folder containing clues that will greatly aid you in your search. If the folder is turquoise, run.

Katie Ullman

Vice President | she/her

As a proud YOLO advocate (#bringitback), Katie believes that everything is either a good choice or a good story. She finds joy in falling off of rocks and slacklines around Charlottesville, and is overly confident that her homemade tiramisu could win awards. She also happens to be skilled in the fine arts of axe throwing and juggling—because why settle for just one cool party trick?

 

Lizzie Frysinger

Treasurer | she/her

Lizzie is a big fan of aimless wandering, ferns, and competitive duck herding. When she’s not amidst a cloud of bees or navigating a watercraft, you will probably find Lizzie searching for birds or maybe looking at a really cool tree. During the rare occasion when she’s trapped indoors, Lizzie likes most to gaze out windows and think about cows.

MAx Ellis

co-gearmaster & Whitewater Advisor| he/him

Find him in constant agonizing indecision, deciding whether to sign up for every trip he can, or actually do his school work. After finding him, ask if you should come to the kayak roll sessions (spoilers you should) or anything your heart may desire, he’s more than happy to help. He also has an obsession with GamePigeon’s Word Hunt, and WILL try to get you to play him. Max loves trees, anything in or around water, and everything else outdoors! Except for skydiving you crazy people

 

Jonathan Beck

Co-gearmaster | he/him
Jonathan is an avid bird nerd who will pester you persistently about his latest find in the wild, regardless of the trip you're on, or even if you're not on a trip at all. He's a huge fan of water and is magnetically drawn to it while on trail or anywhere else really; it's the call of the swim. While enjoying birds, from time to time he'll also dip his toes into the broader flora and fauna of the Charlottesville region, of which he possesses little knowledge, but is gaining more by the day. Jonathan is an avid believer that no ODC trip should be too normal, and thus must embrace the adventure wherever the trail leads.

Gillian sullivan

Fall PBR Chair | she/her

Gillian really wants to read the color of your aura and also really wants you to read whatever she is reading at the moment. She is semi qualified to teach you how to do a headstand and would really love it if you were qualified to teach her how to do a handstand.   If you need her for any reason you can probably find her trying to climb a V3 at slaughter, wandering through the ohill trails, or drinking tea at shannon. However, she rarely says no to a side quest so you may have to attempt telepathic communication to reach her. 

 

Gabe Cohen

Spring PBR Chair & co-biking advisor | he/him

If you look up, you may find Gabe sitting in a tree contemplating whether he should read his chem chapter or climb higher up the tree. He has a severe addiction to doodling, putting peanut butter on all sorts of food, and using anything as a hacky sack. Finding any excuse to be outside, you may find him paddleboarding at Beaver Creek or sitting at the contemplative commons in the midst of winter, since he greatly prefers a chilly breeze over the stale clem air. If you don’t find him in a peculiar spot around grounds, he’s likely on a spontaneous adventure to the nearest forest, the super amazing New River, or his weekly bike extravaganza to Mochiko Chicken when sick of O-hill.

afton hessian

Fall Secretary & co-climbing advisor | she/her

Afton is an enjoyer of cloudgazing, looking at her plants, taking midday naps, staring at salamanders, camping under the stars, and making flower collages. If she’s not on a rock, she wishes she was, and her dreams are filled with little climbs at the New. When the lights go out, a freshwater nature documentary plays, the voice of David Attenborough fills the air, and another day wondering about salmon goes to rest.

Spring Secretary & co-Backpacking Advisor | she/her

Loreley loves anything shiny (which can and will end up in her pockets) but does not want you to also love that in her vicinity because that will increase competition. However, she does want you to frolic, contemplate the impossibility and wonder of life, reenact classic vines, and participate in general tomfoolery out-of-doors with her because these are unlimited resources. She is also proficient in oil pastel and Microsoft paint, and will happily do portraits upon request.

Max Goldberg

New member chair | he/him

Max was born and raised in the city but really just wants to hit the trail. His desire to visit every national park is only tempered by the stupid inclusion of the Gateway Arch on the list, which he will rant about if you ask him. He loves crossword puzzles, Bob Dylan’s harmonica solos, and well-organized trail systems with lots of fun names and colorful blazes. He might say that he’s a hater but it comes from a place of caring. If you are with him, you will almost certainly not get lost.

ben Walker

Webmaster | he/him

Ben Walker walks many walks of life: namely, those that least resemble a traditional shaped path. You can find Ben wherever the wind that takes people places frequents. Ben wants to get better at cooking, gymnastics, and rock climbing–maybe all at the same time!? Crabs frighten Ben and he prefers to be high up in the mountains skiing away from those crusty cretins. Don’t throw crabs at Ben. Ben believes that anything that can be climbed must, and that everything will work out somehow. If you need help with a handstand or have the need for a fun fact, Ben will gladly assist! If you ever see Ben wondering about aimlessly, don’t hesitate to ask him about things that he probably won’t have the answer to!

Pietro Ciliberto

Co-biking advisor | he/him

Pietro enjoys the feeling of fresh air in his lungs when he wakes up after sleeping outside and the cold tingle in his nose when he peeks his face out of the sleeping bag. When not stringing up his hammock or puzzling over a tent, he likes to find a quiet little log with an uninterrupted view where he can ramble or write like the mad little amateur chemist that he is. Books, sticks, and molecules call to him, while cockroaches send him running. He does like spiders though. He’s getting into climbing, but really, all he wants to do is sit outside, talk, eat, take his shoes off, and make weird noises.

Tess mcallister

ASSISTANT Treasurer| she/her
Tess can be found journaling in the gardens, hurriedly biking to
class, or laying on the lawn avoiding her schoolwork. She enjoys frolicking, pickleball, and stroop waffles. Whether you ask or not, she will show you pictures of her prized cats, El Chappo, Spike, and Frank, and you better show proper respect and admiration. At her core, she’s a staunch believer that banagrams is better than scrabble, and will challenge anyone to a game.

Charlotte Maxwell

General officer | she/her

Skills: getting lost in nature, finding 4-leaf clovers, making pbj masterpieces, serving steez
Struggles: pulling all-dayers, lactose intolerance, using pocket lighters

Charlotte is often found lying in a delicious patch of grass living carelessly outside instead of doing the readings for her classes. She loves her daily vitamin D intake, walking around grounds barefoot, and singing her heart out around a campfire (no matter how out of tune she might be). As a camp counselor guru, she never fails to ask you what your “rose, thorn, and bud” are at the end of a long day. She is also a 5th grader stuck in a 19 y/o’s body: rolling cartwheels, headstands, eating dino nugs, climbing up trees, and dabbing on the haters.‍

Ellie rosenburg

General officer | she/her

Ellie is a green, rarely serene, foraging machine often found wandering the Ohill trails (without a shoe to be seen). She knows how to use a machete but still struggles with the hand-eye coordination required for a proper hacky sacking stall—that doesn’t stop her from trying though! During her afternoon naps, she dreams of the most majestic boulder in Squamish and always wakes up before she can sequence the final mantle move to top out. Ask her about hammock camping technique (keyword: diagonal!), trees you can eat on Grounds, and why Bananagrams should be considered a professional sport. Feel free to not ask about set screwing or when she’s going to get her kayak

Via Miller

General officer | she/her

Via is a forest cryptid who crawled out of a hole somewhere in the Blue Ridge Mountains. She can often be found climbing and hiking; however, as a self-proclaimed "Jack-of-all-Trades, Master of none", she'll join just about any beginner trip that she can cram into her schedule. When she isn't off in the mountains, she can often be found cooped up in the basement of Olsson coding video games or plotting her next D&D campaign.
