Spelunking at Marshall’s Cave

OVERVIEW

Want to get out of the blistering heat? Why not go underground for awhile where it is a cool 60-some degrees all year long! Marshall’s cave is an excellent place for some fine spelunking. Incredible rock formations and expansive caverns wait for those that dare to enter!

The plan is to leave on Friday the 29th of July and hike in to the cave. We will camp out, rise early (well, maybe not too early) and then start exploring. We will probably be in the cave for 5 or 6 hours or so. Afterwards we will depart, wash off/swim in a nearby stream, and then head back to Charlottesville. To go on this trip you should be a reasonable shape with some basic rock climbing skills (most of the tunnels in Marshall’s cave involve free climbing a bit). The trip will be limited to 4 people. Don’t be discouraged if you get placed on the waitlist. Due to the nature of the trip I’m going to set the trip size to (1) and add people through the course of the week.

An extra flashlight/batteries
Snacks
Clothes you can get dirty
