It’s now the 14th, It still looks like rain, but I’ll hike in the rain. It’s all good.

I re-scheduled this trip from the 8th to the 14th due to rain.
We’ll drive down the blue ridge parkway, hike out to Cedar Cliffs, watch the sun set, see Venus, then watch some satellites and shooting stars while we wait for Mars to show up.
It will be fun to identify the constellations including… Little Dipper, Cassiopeia, Persesus…
Please meet at my house at 4:00pm (I live near Runk Dining Hall). The drive will take about 35 min. The hike to the cliffs will be only 0.6 miles (~15 min). We’ll be hiking out in the dark so please bring a flashlight or headlamp. If you don’t have a flashlight or head lamp I will get you one from the equipment room.
It will be cold and windy at the cliffs, so please bring plenty of warm clothing including a scarf, hat, and gloves. Also bring something to sit or lie back on which will make you comfortable while insulating you from the rock face. (like a large blanket). Bring a mug and spoon, in a ziplock bag, for hot chocolate. I’ll bring one of the club’s Wisperlite stoves, water, and powdered hot chocolate.
I’ll have a telescope available if you want to carry it (30 pounds).
I will add you off the waitlist when I get some volunteers to drive.
If it is cloudy, this event will be rescheduled for later in November, but we won’t know until the day of the event.
