Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
New River Gorge
The weather’s being a trickster these days, so there’s no telling what our forecast will be come Friday night. But I’m desperate to climb, so here’s Plan A:
Head out to the New River Gorgeous rocks of sandstone on Friday night. Sleep tight at Ray’s and get up the next morning to hit the rocks hard all day long. Grab a quick dinner after the sun sets and head back to Cville Sat night.
Climbers who do 5.9 clean on top rope and up are welcome to join. We’ll be doing lots of leading (leaders get priority) and decide where to go based on group make up. Plan on lots of sport climbs 5.9 – 5.11+/12-.
The weather forecast is currently 50s and chance of showers. Franklin is forecasting precip. So in the event that the forecast goes south for the New and not for Franklin, we’ll go there. Or, if all of the mountains to the west are covered in rain clouds, we’ll head off to Peak. Either way, climbing is happening.
