OVERVIEW

I really have no desire to drive 6 hours just to spend a week at a (subpar) beach with the same people that are on the corner every weekend, but that doesn’t mean I’m going to sit around doing nothing until graduation. While early May is still technically offseason in Acadia, this winter has been mild enough that it should be firmly out of mud season and into the nice part of spring (but without the swarms of people you get in the more predictable parts of the year).

The Plan:
-Leave from C’ville fairly early Sunday morning for the 15ish hour drive, which should put us in Bar Harbor before midnight
-Spend the week camping at Blackwoods campground, doing whatever hikes/other activities everyone wants to do (possibly Katahdin if people are up for it and the weather cooperates)
-Leave Thursday morning; get back pretty late that night/early the next morning depending on how you think about it

Trip Fee:
The fee for this trip is $150, which covers gas over what the club will reimburse as well as food for the week. If there’s anything leftover after paying for gas and tip to drivers it will be distributed back to everyone.

What to Bring:
-whatever clothes you need for the trip
-toiletries (there aren’t showers at the campsite, but there are pay showers pretty close that I’d assume we’ll be visiting at least once)
-sleeping bag and sleeping pad (can be checked out from gear room)
-backpack you would want to bring hiking
-something to put at least 2L of water in
-weather appropriate layers for hiking (especially a raincoat)
-We’ll be doing group breakfast/lunch/dinner (included in trip fee) but bring any snacks you might want
-I’ll handle coordinating group tents; unfortunately the campground doesn’t allow any camping gear outside the gravel pad so no hammocks 🙁

Drivers get priority off the waitlist; gas is reimbursed (+any extra money from trip fees will be used for gas tip up to 50%). Also if necessary people who can drive stick may get priority so I don’t have to drive the whole 15 hours.
