OVERVIEW

The Stony Creek River release Saturday, July 14th and 15th. Is officially cancelled.

It is now a Lower Youghiogheny river trip: Sorry for any inconvenience.

(This is Intermediate^2 skill level). You can research this river here:

LOWER YOUGHIOGHENY RIVER:
OHIOPYLE, PA 15470
Lat 39`52’15”, long 79`29’35”, Fayette County,

The same dates apply, the same skill requirements apply, very similar run. Class II-III, You can research it here. We will meet in Ohiopyle at the put-in on Friday afternoon around 3pm and run the Loop.

CAMPING: Either at http://www.paddlerslane.com/id12.html OR http://www.talloakscampground.com/

The permit is not necessary if you put in after 3 PM or before 7:45 AM. Permits costs $3.00. In addition, those who take out at Bruner Run on weekends must buy a bus token for $4.00. The bus token will get you to the top of the hill, but not back to Ohiopyle. (In other words, you still have to run shuttle.)

We’ll have plenty of vehicles for shuttle, I have already reserved launch permits.

TIMES/PLAN/LEGAL:
LOWER YOUGH:
My personal intentions:

Friday, meet in Ohiopyle at the put-in around 3ish to paddle the Loop.

Chill out, relax, probably eat out somewhere, bon-fire in the evening.

Lower Yough, Saturday: Breakfast, set shuttle, put-on around 10 or 11am.

Sunday:Breakfast, Probably laps on the Loop.

On Saturday or Sunday another whitewater kayaking or rafting option in the area is ASCI whitewater park. http://www.adventuresportscenter.com/

RAFTING:
There’s commercial trips available on the Lower Yough, you can inquire about those here:
http://wilderness-voyageurs.com/whitewater.html

Everyone gets wait listed until I screen your skills.

FOOD:
The Club’s summer allotment won’t cover all the food and camping fees for this trip, so all should bring extra $$$ to cover those, we’ll probably eat out somewhere Friday evening. Cook at the campground Saturday evening, Sunday probably eat out on the road.

FEES:
Lower Yough fees: Launch permits are required on weekends and holidays $3.00 per person..
Bus tokens are $4.00 So I’ve put $25 for the fee to cover those and other extraordinary expenses.

Club Provides:
Boats & Gear, Cold water gear if you need them and YOU are responsible for bringing all necessary paddling and camping gear for this trip.

TRANSPORTATION: I wish I could say “I own a short bus and we can all travel together in while singing cumbia” but I don’t! I own a Nissan. My little car can carry: Four boats, paddling gear, camping gear and two people. So you may need to arrange your own transportation for this trip.
