COME BOULDER WITH PAFN!

Hey everyone!

My name is Lena and I’m one of the members on the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) committee. As part of our mission, we’re making a larger effort to reach out to historically underrepresented groups and give them an opportunity to check out what the Outdoors Club is about without having to pay dues first.

For the first in our series, we’re collaborating with the Peer Advising Family Network (PAFN), which provides mentoring to 1st year/transfer Asian Pacific Islander American (APIDA) students. We’ve decided to host a bunch of bouldering sessions at Slaughter, since a lot of students don’t have much or any experience, and we’d love for you all to join in and meet some cool folks!

The way it’ll work is that anyone who wants to lead a group and help teach/guide people will put their name/contact info and the time they want to lead in this spreadsheet. (The contact info is just in case people need to reach you.) Or if you only want to climb, you can sign up for a slot by leaving your name. On the day of, just show up to Slaughter, find your group, and get climbing!

Here’s the timeline:

10/25 Sign-ups open to ODC trip leaders

10/27 – 11/13 Sign-ups open to everyone to either lead or participate (ODC & PFAN)

10/31 – 11/13 Climb!

This is a great way to meet new people, introduce them to a cool sport, and/or have people to climb with! Once you’re done, feel free to leave any feedback through this form. If you have any questions, feel free to reach out to me (ln7mb@virginia.edu). Thanks y’all!

Happy trails,

Lena + DEI Committee
