Picbird nicwatching!

OVERVIEW

Hi friends!! This coming Thursday looks like a beautiful day to sit down in one of the UVA gardens, munch on some food, and attempt to identify birds! I’m pretty non well-versed in the art of birding, but perhaps some of you have knowledge to share, or want to be bad at bird identification in solidarity!

This trip is generally as follows:
12:00 pm – meet at the garden BEHIND pavilion 9
12:01 pm – make our way to a more favorable garden or walk somewhere that we can hear birds residing!
12:01pm – 1:59pm – sit down, chow on some lunch, and try to know what birds we’re lookin at! This isn’t a hard set schedule, so we can always move around, identify on a walk, or come up with something new!
2:00 pm – depart back into the land of school, perhaps remain in the bird land, or find a new one!

What to bring:
-Yourself!
-Some water & food!! This state of the world probably frowns upon people sharing food, so definitely bring enough to sustain yourself
– any bird identifying & watching instruments! I have a book & pair of binoculars I’ll bring, but please bring anything you have as well!! I also have the swanky app “merlin bird id” that I’d recommend to anyone coming and/or generally interested in getting to know our chirping friends!!!!
*ALSO please feel free to bring anything for other identification!!!!!!! Bugs, plants, flowers, mushrooms, whatever! The more the merrier!!
