Elliot Knob Day Hike

OVERVIEW

Looks like the weather is finally going to get warm this saturday so come with me to give Punxsatawney Phil the middle finger from the top of Elliot Knob.

This 8.5 mile out-and-back hike has 2,425 feet of elevation change. Expect a fairly strenuous hike – Elliot Knob is one of the tallest peaks in Virginia. Most of the ascent is along an old fire road, and passes by two waterfalls. The summit is grass-covered and offers spectacular views of the Shenandoah Valley. There is also an old fire tower we might be able to climb for an even better view.

What to bring:

– 2L Water
– Lunch
– Snacks
– Sturdy/comfortable pair of shoes

Car space will be limited until more drivers sign up – priority will be given to anyone willing to drive.
