OVERVIEW

The weather forecast for Saturday looks to be incredible: partly cloudy with highs in the mid 60s! Let take advantage of this rare winter warmth and give the club’s new and fantastic recreational kayaks their maiden voyage. Yep, that’s right! The club has 3 brand new rec boats that are designed for all kinds of water, from gliding over ocean swells to cruising down lazy rivers, or just relaxing on the surface of a nice, calm lake. I plan to eventually experience all 3 in those boats, but for now lets start with the latter for a couple of hours this Saturday afternoon at Walnut Creek Park. No experience is necessary to join this adventure. Never paddled a boat? Don’t worry, these kayaks are very stable and I can teach you how to pilot them. They are perfect for an introduction into the wonderful realm of boating!

About the boats: 2 of them are tandem rec boats, and 1 single. I plan to paddle the single craft, and divide up 4 participants into the other 2 boats. If there is a lot of interest I might also be able to bring a canoe or 2.

I will need 1 driver to make this work. Everyone who signs up will get automatically added to the waitlist, then I will move the first driver to sign up to the trip list, then will add 3 more attendees on a first-come-first-served basis.

The Club Provides: Boats, paddles, PFDs (aka life vests), optional wetsuits and neoprene booties.

You should bring: swimwear, towel, warm layers, footwear that can get wet, water, snacks
