Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Walnut Creek Park
In this 2.5 hour class on the basics of white water kayaking, you will learn such skills as the wet exit, how to paddle a white water kayak, T-rescues, and get a chance to try the Eskimo roll. The purpose of this class is to prepare you for future river trips and is a prerequisite (unless you’ve taken a similar class) for club white water kayaking trips. This class is designed for complete beginners, but please feel free to sign up regardless of your experience level.
I will need at least 1 driver for this, I will put everyone on the waitlist and move the first driver to sign up, and then the first 4 or 5 who signed up, onto the trip list.
The plan is for you to meet at Echols at 4:00 (please be prompt!), get out to the park by 4:30, and be off the water at around 7:00. If you really want to come on this adventure but can’t make it to Echols by 4, worry not! You can meet us at the park; even if you are late I can quickly get you up to speed.
**There is a ~$5 entrance fee to get into the park. Please be sure to bring cash. I have reflected that, plus $3 toward ga$ (the club does not reimburse gas to local venues in the summer) in the adventure fee.
I plan to ride the wonderful trails of Walnut Creek Park after the adventure, so feel free to join me if you have a bike and can tote it.
The Club provides: Boats, spray skirts, pfds, paddles, helmets, nose plugs, boat/gear transport.
You should bring: your adventure fee, swimwear, towel, change of clothes, water, snacks, sunscreen, footwear that can get wet (though not necessary).
