Climbing on the Blue Ridge Parkway

OVERVIEW

Raven’s Roost is a neat little spot a few miles down the Blue Ridge Parkway. It has a good smattering of easier climbs ranging from 5.4 to 5.9. We will plan to climb on top rope, although if anyone wants to come do some trad, we can make that work too (just let me know in the comments). We’ll give priority to at least one person who can top rope belay. Other than that, it’s open to people of all experience levels – beginners welcome.

The plan is to leave grounds around 1pm, get there around 1:45, climb from ~2:15 to sundown (or whenever people get too tired), then return to grounds around 7:30pm.

We will bring dynamic ropes, anchor building materials, and maybe even a trad rack for funsies.

You should bring:
– weather-appropriate clothing
– harness
– ATC + locking biner
– helmet
– climbing shoes
– chalk
– any personal climbing gear
