Anti-Foxfield Day Hike: White Oak Canyon (+/–) Cedar Run

OVERVIEW

Calling all esteemed comrades, intrepid explorers, and beloved friends,

Come stretch the ol’ leg parts with me this weekend as we boycott the debauchery of Foxfields and instead cleanse our spirits in the glorious waterfalls of White Oak Canyon. Right now it looks like it might rain in the PM, but if not/if we’re feeling wet n’ wild anyway, we’ll chug on through and do Cedar Run as well. This’ll likely be a gametime decision, so come prepared. White Oak is 4.8 miles alone, but 7.9 with the addition of Cedar Run.

Now listen here kiddos, this ain’t no ice cream social. Bring a hearty lunch. Bring snacks. Bring those cookies your grandma baked you (and share them with me). Feel free to bring swim trunks, floaties, whatever, for the swimmin’ hole as well –just don’t forget a towel. We’ll have a pic-a-nic lunch at the waterfall(s), then chug on.

The plan is to meet at Echols brick wall at 10:00 AM and boogie. According to my crystal ball, we should be back by 6 or 7 PM (if we decide to add in Cedar Run), perfect time to reunite with your haggard Foxfield friends invigorated and rejuvenated.

WHAT TO BRING:
– Hiking boots/sturdy walking shoes
– WATER (2-3 liters)
– A warm layer or two (might get chilly/windy)
– Picnic victuals
– Swim suit and towel (if you want to swim)
– Any additional hot beverage ingredients you’d like to bring
– A camera if yer into that
– $5 for SNP Park Pass [might be more might be less depending on how many people come ($15 per car)].
