APPLES! APPLES! APPLES!

OVERVIEW

Fall weather brings a few things. Midterms, Halloween, and my personal favorite: apple picking. Join Kali and me for an adventure to Roseland to pick some apples (and potentially pumpkins), and then complete a short hike (roughly 3 miles) in the area.

This should be a good trip for beginners, however, the hike may contain a slightly steep incline and some rocky terrain, so do with that what you will. (Here is more info on the hike: https://www.nps.gov/blri/planyourvisit/crabtree-falls-trail.htm – it says closed, however it’s not).

For the orchard, the apples that they will have for pick-your-own will be available on the website (https://www.dickiebrothers.com/home.html). The pricing is $20.00 for a peck and $25.00 for a bushel. If you are looking at the pick-your-own pumpkins, those are done by weight and size. The orchard also has a variety of pre-picked apples and other apple/pumpkin/fall treats available at the store.

Itinerary:
10:00 AM: Leave from Echols Dorm
11:00 AM: Arrive at Dickie Bros. Orchard in Roseland
1:00 PM: Leave orchard and head to Crabtree Falls Hiking Trail
3:30 PM: Leave Crabtree and start heading back to grounds
5:00 PM: Arrive back at Echols dorm (or wherever the drivers want to leave you)

What we will bring:
– First aid kit
– Some snacks
– A positive attitude

What you bring:
– Money for your own apples
– Comfortable shoes for walking (on rocky and potentially wet terrain)
– Layers if that’s what you want
– Lunch/snacks
– WATER!!!

Priority will be given to drivers! Gas will be reimbursed.
