Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Appalachian National Scenic Trail
Hey there, ya outdoors lovas.
Still not sure what you’re doing over Spring Break? Come backpacking! Olivia Lewis and I are leading a four-day backpacking trip along a section of the AT Sunday-Wednesday! (It’s still pretty open-ended at this point which section of the AT we will be hiking along but it will for sure be in Virginia.) We’re pretty relaxed hikers; ~10 mi/ day will probably be the pace. So, you don’t need to be an avid hiker to do this adventure! Whether we will sleep in shelters or just find some good-looking ground for the night is up in the air.
Olivia will be leaving from Charlottesville and I may be leaving from Roanoke so we will be able to give you a ride if you will be in either of those places.
You bring:
-Backpack
-Sleeping bag
-Sleeping pad
-Tent or hammock (if choosing a hammock, make sure that you have a pad for the bottom of your hammock so that your backside isn’t super chilly at night)
-Head lamp/ flashlight
-Food (oatmeal, rice, trail mix … whatever you need calorie-wise for four days in the mountains!)
-Water (2 liters at first; we will refill along the way)
-Good hiking shoes
-Rain jacket
-Warm clothes (layers)
((Let me know if you’re having trouble getting any of this stuff as I know that there are few gear rooms left before break. I’ll see if we can scrounge around.))
The club provides: gas $$
