Rotunda Steps, Lawn Side
Balz Dobie Dorm
Rotunda, University Avenue, Charlottesville, VA, USA
Did you know magnolia petals are edible? This is not an April Fool’s joke! They kinda taste like cardamom, cloves, and ginger rolled around in dirt together (mmmmm appetizing). They can be used for all kinds of things — pickling, syrup making, and COOKIES. On this trip, I’ll pass on my recipe for magnolia petal gingersnaps. We’ll start at the Rotunda to forage freshly fallen petals from some nearby trees, and end up at the Balz Dobie kitchen to turn them into something delicious. While no foraging or baking experience is necessary, I will need some help gathering basic supplies (flour, sugar, bowls, baking sheets, etc.), which we can coordinate before the trip. Excited to see you there!
