Hello my beautiful tree huggers!
Remember that one book about the little orange guy called the Lorax who spoke for the trees and how you read it as a kid and were so inspired and forever changed because it was just that good and so true??? Well, allow me to speak for the trees right now: “HELP I AM BEING CHOKED ALIVE BY THESE FREAKING INVASIVE PLANTS PLEASE HELP SAVE ME!” It looks like we have a job to do…
The Rivanna Conservation Alliance and some folks from the Rivanna Forest Restoration Partnership are hosting a workday at Riverview Park on Saturday (11/15) to manage the invasive plants that are threatening native tree canopy in a high-priority forest area. Come help us out! It will be soooo fun! Here is some info from their website: “RCA will provide needed tools like loppers, pruners, gloves, and safety glasses, but feel free to bring your own. Volunteers should wear long sleeves, long pants, and closed-toe shoes. Please bring a water bottle. Volunteers under 18 must be accompanied by an adult. This event is subject to change due to weather. If you have any questions, or sign-ups are closed, please contact RCA’s Watershed Coordinator Bailey Pleasant at bspleasant@rivannariver.org”
Plan
– meet at Echols at 12:30
– SAVE SOME TREES WOOOOO
– Return around 3:30
***Notes:
– we need another driver! You will be prioritized off the waitlist if you drive
– You must register for this event and sign the volunteer waiver: https://htru.io/SR1p
– This RCA event only has 15 spots, so getting off the waitlist for this trip is also dependent on how many other people register for the event
Hope to see you there! Also I think this is my 100th trip wutttttt??!?!?!?!
Peace & Love,
Skylar
