Corner of Echols
AFC Parking Lot
Riverview Park, Chesapeake Street, Charlottesville, VA, USA
Drivers needed! You will get priority off the waitlist. Gas is not reimbursed because the trip is less than 15 miles.
You know what pairs well with a freak winter storm? Swimming! And what better way to start your Saturday than with a refreshing plunge in a near-freezing river? There’s supposed to be a high of 17 degrees, so you better be determined to face adversity (being really cold) with a grim smile. Having shown our strength, we will then tactically retreat to the AFC to make use of the sauna and hot tub to thaw our bodies out.
The plan:
8:00 AM – Meet at Echols (Too early for you? It’s okay, this trip isn’t for those without dedication)
8:05 AM – Leave for the Rivanna
8:15 AM – PLUNGE!!!
8:45 AM – Head back to the AFC
9:00 AM to whenever you don’t feel like a popsicle – chill in the hot tub before heading home
What you should bring:
Warm Clothes for Afterwards (it’s going to be frigid, don’t say I didn’t warn you)
Towel
Swim Suit
What I will bring:
First Aid Kit
An unquenchable thirst for life
A note about the weather: current forecasts do not predict any snow before Saturday morning. If this changes and the roads are poor, we may need to change the plan.
