🥾 Sunset Hike: High Knob Fire Tower

OVERVIEW

What better way to end the week than a sunset hike? Nestled on the West Virginia/Virginia State line, the High Knob Fire Tower offers a sweeping 360° view into West Virginia and the sunset with the Blue Ridge Mountains behind us. We’ll hike up to the tower and enjoy the sunset and hike back down with flashlights or headlamps.

THE PLAN:
Depart Echols Dorm around 3pm.
Arrive at the trailhead along US-33 just past the state line and hike up to the lookout tower.
Watch the sunset and head back to the cars.
Arrive back in Charlottesville around 10:30pm.

WHAT TO BRING:
Comfortable hiking boots or shoes
Layers (it will cool off around sundown)
Headlamp and/or flashlight (please pick one up at gear room if needed)
Water
Snacks

The max number of participants depends on how many people sign up that are able to drive. Drivers will have priority.
