Do you like WALNUTS? Well, it’s that time of the year again, so GET PSYCHED!!!
For members new to the club this year, the Creekathon is our end-of-semester cookout/potluck/picnic at Walnut Creek Park in Albemarle County. It’s always a great time with good food and good people. We have reserved one of the shelters at the park, complete with grill and picnic tables. The club covers all burgers (of both the meat and veggie varieties), hotdogs, buns, condiments, and utensils, and everyone who comes brings an additional food side/drink item (salad, veggies, dip, chips, soft drinks, cookies, brownies, etc.).
We encourage leaders to set up trips before the cookout at the park or elsewhere (mountain biking, trail run, hiking, kayaking, outdoors survival skills, disc golf, slacklining etc. – again, get creative!), so you can rock out with an outdoor activity before chowing down with fellow outdoorsists!
We will have 2 shifts of departure from BONNYCASTLE CIRCLE (**NOT THE BRICK WALL BY ECHOLS**): the first being at 1:45, the second at 2:30. Returns to UVa Grounds will be on an as-needed basis, so don’t worry about getting back, as drivers will be returning at all times of the evening (they have to get back, too, ya know!). Please indicate in the ‘Questions’ section which departure time from UVa you’d like to be in on, or if you will be attending a trip before-hand (If you are not definitely on a trip, mark this as a no- you can always go back and change it later).
If you plan on coming separately (whether in your own car or you’ll be at the park anyway because you’re attending a trip) SIGN UP FOR THIS CREEKATHON ADVENTURE ANYWAY so we know how much food to purchase.
Club provides: the main food groups of meat, bread, and condiments; a ride in a car (I’ll send out a list of the drivers and their riders a day or two in advance.)
You provide: an additional awesome food contribution; a smile, walnuts.
NOTE: No alcoholic beverages are permitted at Walnut Creek Park.
