Echols Dorm: Brick Wall By Side Door
Walnut Creek Park
Have you ever looked looked at a tree and thought, “those things would rule the world if they could move.”? Have you ever wondered whether crabs think that fish are birds? Have you ever sat down at your computer to write an essay only to spend an hour reading about different sharks on wikipedia? Do you ever pause in the middle of an episode of Parks & Rec and reflect on how large polar bears are? Are you a dues-paying human belonging to the Outdoors Club?
If you answered yes to any of the above questions, then you are invited to — and sure as h*ll better attend — the FIRST CREEKATHON OF THE 2015-16 SCHOOL YEAR! If you answered yes to all of the above questions, then text me. Let’s get coffee.
WHAT IS CREEKATHON?
Creekathon is our club-wide end-of-the-semester gathering held at the illustrious Walnut Creek park (~20 minutes outside of Cville). Though there will be side trips for things like disc golf, mountain biking, foraging, etc. occurring earlier/later, the main event will run from 1:00 to 4:30 or so with some drivers surely heading out late and others leaving early.
You may recall that my position (PBR/Social Chair) stands for Potlucks, Bonfires, and Ragers. Creekathon is the potluck part!
Potluck assignments (by first letter of last name):
A-D: beverages
E-K: appetizers, chips & other snacky things
L-R: fruit & veggies
S-Z: desserts
The Club will be providing burgers (& veggie burgers) and hot dogs!!
This is a super relaxed event. Expect to spend time eatin’ good food, hangin’ in hammocks, slack-linin’, meetin’ friends new and old, baskin’ in the resplendent natural surroundings, chattin’ about bygone adventures, and discussin’ plans for new ones.
WE NEED TRIP LEADERS AND DRIVERS.
Unlike NRGE, it is totally cool to join this main adventure without also joining a side-adventure. However it’s always a good time to spice up your Creekathon with some fun outdoorsy stuff on the side. In order for this to happen we need trip leaders!! Talk to Kit Guncheon (kmg7ck@virginia.edu) if you need trip ideas.
DRIVERS: We need you. Sign up. It’s fun.
There is no max number of peeps. We want you all to come!! Even if you’ve never been on a trip before!! PLEASE COME WE LOVE YOU.
Yours in friendship, nature, and the dirtbag life.
