Corner Of Echols Dorm
Corner of Echols Dorm (or wherever)
Rouseville, PA, USA
FOUR STATES: ONE DAY*. The challenge you didn’t know you needed. We start in Pennsylvania and head south along the AT going through Maryland, West Virginia, and Virginia, ending in Harpers Ferry. It’s 45.5 miles in one day with 7000 ft of elevation gain, so if it’s your first time walking, maybe try Triple Crown first. To add to the fun, it will RAIN all day!! So bring your dancing (hiking) shoes to go dancing (hiking) in the rain! Also, unlike Triple Crown there isn’t a place for a bail car, so the bail options are turning back for the first half of the hike, or 41 miles in by just skipping the last little loop to hit Virginia.
The plan:
– Leave grounds at 6:00 pm Saturday Evening
– Drop off shuttle car at Harpers Ferry then continue on to Rouseville by 9:30pm and go to sleep
– Wake up at 2:00 am and start hiking
– Finish hike by 10:00 pm
– Back in cville by 2:00 am Monday morning
TO BRING:
Poncho (If you don’t have one, I will be bring enough for everyone and you can buy one for $2.50)
MINIMUM 3L water (there’s refill streams that we will filter throughout, plus the car will have extra water)
FOOD FOOD FOOD: MINIMUM 4000 calories. We can leave snacks in the car too.
backpack to carry everything + garbage bag liner
caffeine/electrolytes (or just salt)
comfortable hiking shoes
Flashlight
trekking poles (optional)
Pillow and blanket to sleep in the car

*side effects may include requiring improvised walking sticks for 2-10 weeks, calluses of steel, meeting god, a second wind, signing an NDA against allegations that there were ever more than 4 people on the trip, and an underwhelming reaction from friends on informing them you were in 4 states in one day (just drive??? or go to four corners out west and walk ten feet????)
