Graveyard
Ragged Mountain Nature Area
**CANCELLED** Due to low turnout. Will be rescheduled
Did you know Edgar Allen Poe wrote a story that takes place in the “Ragged Mountains” outside Charlottesville? And what better day to explore the setting of a spOoOoky story than on Halloween!
Read the story here: http://xroads.virginia.edu/~Hyper/POE/raggedmt.html
The Ragged Mountain Nature Area recently re-opened to the public and it’s super close to grounds. So close, in fact, that we are going to bike there.
The game plan is to rendezvous at the graveyard, bike to the area, tromp around on the trails for a little bit, eat some lunch and enjoy some one of the final days of warm weather. I might even bring some yerba mate for those ethnobotanists out there.
The ride is mostly paved and dirt road, so you don’t need a mountain bike. Your class commuter will do! If you need to borrow a bike from the club, supplies will be limited. If you bring your own bike, wear a helmet. You can get these from the club too.
You bring:
Water
Lunch
Snacks
Bike
Helmet
Bike Lock
Club provides (if you need it)
