Advanced Whitewater: Gauley Fest!

OVERVIEW

Gauley Fest, the biggest whitewater celebration in the world, is about to happen. Last year the festival only won the title of “biggest celebration” by a slim margin of three partiers, and this spring Gauley archrival Amazonastravaganza increased their attendance and stepped up their efforts to steal the title. Gauleyfest needs your help! Don’t let our beloved West Virginia river party fall to second place behind those stinkers. Don’t let the southern hemisphere claim this holiest of holy outdoors celebration titles.

We’ll go out to Fayette County Friday evening, paddle the New River gorge Saturday morning, drive to the main event in Summersville Saturday evening, camp out, then hopefully paddle some middle or lower Gauley Sunday, depending what other paddlers we can get connected with.

Club provides: boats and gear if you need it, camping essentials if you need it, a ride and gasoline, funds for camping fee, some snacky-snacks, some leadership (but hopefully we will ferret out some additional leadership down there…)

***Bring money for delicious food at Fayetteville restaurants, and lots of money if you want to barter in all the boating and outdoors gear sure to be for sale at the festival.
***Bring enough clothes for getting wet two days and being comfortable in the PROBABLY-CHILLY (but crisp and delicious) mountain night air.
***Bring your game face and a stain-proof combat roll. Yeah.
