This will be a trip to the New River Gorge to go whitewater kayaking. The New River is one of the oldest rivers in the world and is one of the most fun eastern US runs.

The New is a class III/IV river and is harder than anything that the club has done prior. The section is 6.5 miles long and has many playspots and many technical rapids. We will be paddling on Saturday starting at about noon and paddling on Sunday. The level should be relatively low, but this is still pretty big-water paddling. Check out the link below to see better details.

YOU MUST BE VERY COMFORTABLE ON CLASS III RIVERS AND HAVE EXPERIENCE IN CLASS IV TO GO. I WILL REQUIRE A LIST OF RIVERS RUN, SO PLEASE DON’T SIGN UP IF YOU’RE A BEGINNER OR IF YOU’VE ONLY PADDLED < 5 TIMES. Please e-mail me with any questions! -- CaseT@virginia.edu You must bring: Clothes to get wet, wet shoes, polypro layers (the water will be cold), some money Outdoors at UVA Provides: Boat, needed whitewater gear, sleeping bag/pad, tent, dinner saturday night, breakfast, lunch sunday Related Link: http://www.americanwhitewater.org/rivers/id/2418/
