OVERVIEW

Shredders, senders, stoke enthusiasts, Kyle Guy & Ty Jerome devotees, adrenaline junkies (Ok, I think that covers all of you) —

First and foremost, go hoos!!! We’ll be celebrating and basking in the glory of this natty for the next year, and will do so in true, unabashed ODC fashion at our spring Creekathon.

Fortunately, unlike other events happening on this day, you will not need to wake up before 9 in order to start drinking, and there will be no Lily Pulitzer dresses or sperrys in sight.

~*~ What is Creekathon, you ask? ~*~

’Tis the biannual, club-wide mega-trip held at beautiful Walnut Creek Park, a mere hop and a skip (~20 mins) from Grounds. The park has forested areas, a network of trails, grassy stretches, disc golf courses, and encircles a lake. We’ll have a base camp set up from 12:00 – 4:30 with food, music, slacklines, instruments, and hammocks, with side trips like mountain biking, disc golf, hiking, trail running, kayaking, roll clinics, and Stand Up Paddleboarding going out throughout the afternoon.

“Creek-a-thon is a time when outdoorsy plebeians and proletarians, spider-monkeys and groundwellers, shrederonies and shrederinas alike come together to transcend all political and racial division and unite as one with the Gnar™.” -Thomas Shredison IV, 420 B.C.

If you like the warmth of friendship, the feeling of adrenaline coursing through your veins, or just soakin’ up sunshine, Creekathon is the place for you. The club will provide food and snax, but we do ask that you bring your own plate and eating utensils to keep the event zero waste.

We need DRIVERS and TRIP LEADERS! For trip ideas, search “Creekathon” on the club website to see what people have done in the past. Anyone can lead a trip — even if you’re not a certified “trip leader,” drop outdoors-officers@virginia.edu a line and we’ll get ya set up.

** This trip is for the main carpool! If you wanna also join side trips, feel free to, but please still join this trip so we can figure out drivers and food.
You’re also welcome to only join this trip (without a side trip) and just come hang out! **

The main carpool will depart from Echols: Brick Wall By Side Door™ at noon. Drivers, pls arrive at 11:45! Because the park is so close, gas will NOT be reimbursed. Once at the ‘Nut, trips will leave and return at various times throughout the day.

So, in conclusion:
-come hang
-keep doin’ it outside
-go hoooos!
