Apple Butter Day!

OVERVIEW

Do you want to spend a night sitting around a campfire, listening to old-timers tell stories, and stirring a massive cauldron of bubbling liquid?

Then come along to the day of apple butter! I grew up in the area, and every year the teeny town of Batesville spends a weekend making apple butter to sell and fundraise with. I want to take a trip there for the night and help them out & also have a grand ole time.

Schedule:
5ish: leave c’ville and head out to b’ville.
Pitch tents in the field of a neighboring family (don’t worry, I know them).
Dinner is provided by Dr. Ho’s Pizza (delish) and the Batesville market.
9 pm: Learn the tricks of the trade of stirring the big pots.
10: stirring starts and will go on all night. We’ll sign up for slots for what times we want to stir. Stargaze and reminisce on the olden days.
2ish am: return to tents and get some sleep
In the morning: Pancake breakfast (free!) starts at 8 am, and then we can stay for as long as we want and help them can and label the jars of the apple butter as it comes out of the pots.
Noon: back in Charlottesville

Also, don’t worry that you’re signing up for a night of labor 🙂 it’s very relaxed and low-key.

Supplies:

Sleeping bag
pad
Clothes that might get a little messy
Money (for more food/apple butter/snackies/in case you sleep in past the pancakes, I’d bring at least 10$)
Warm layers

Drivers needed and get priority off of waitlist!! Club reimburses gas+50% tip!!!
