Carter Mountain Orchard
It’s finally starting to feel like fall, and there’s no better place to celebrate the change of the season than at Carter’s Mountain. At the top of the mountain is a historic apple barn which is the center of our activities. There you’ll find the market, gift shop and bakery. Breath-taking views from the market, as well as from an observation deck, showcase over forty miles of the local countryside and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
We also have available a walking trail throughout the orchard. The trail covers about 2 miles so wear your walking shoes and enjoy a brisk (or leisurely) hike on the mountain.
Info about Carter Mountain: “Starting in September, you can pick your own apples from the orchard or select your own apples from the barn. We offer over a dozen varieties including Red Delicious, Golden Delicious, Granny Smith, Winesap, and Fuji. We also have fresh Apple Cider, home made apple cider donuts, fresh baked apple pies, apple caramel cookies, and hand-dipped ice cream just to mention a few things. Pumpkins, gourds, Indian corn and hayrides begin in October.”

What to bring: probably about $20 in cash, or maybe a little more- you almost definitely won’t need all of this, but there is usually so much delicious food, that it’s better to be safe than sorry!
Club provides: transportation (it’s only about a 10 min drive so gas is not reimbursed for volunteer drivers)
