OVERVIEW

Official description:

The Banff Mountain Film Festival, a program of The Banff Centre, is the largest, and one of the most prestigious, mountain festivals in the world. Hot on the heels of the festival held every fall in Banff, Alberta, the Banff Mountain Film Festival World Tour hits the road. From approximately 260 films entered into the annual festival, award-winning films and audience favorites are among the films chosen to travel the globe.

This year’s tour features a collection of the most inspiring action, environmental, and adventure films from the festival. Traveling to exotic landscapes and remote cultures, and bringing audiences up-close and personal with adrenaline-packed action sports, the 2010-11 World Tour is an exhilarating and provocative exploration of the mountain world.

My description:

I’ve been to the BMFFWT the last three years and it never disappoints. This is your chance to see a handful of segments from the best outdoor films of the past year, all in one place. There is always a good mix of adventure, excitement, environmentalism, emotion, and humor.

The showings have been known to sell out in previous years so it is highly recommended that you purchase tickets in advance. You can get them at Blue Ridge Mountain Sports or the Paramount box office for $13 in advance (sounds steep, but well worth it). If you prefer, you can get them online at the Paramount website with a small service fee. Tickets will also be available at the door for $15, but it would be a shame if its sold out and you have to take the trolley back to grounds!

Since this is a short drive, gas will not be reimbursed. It should be easy enough to find street parking, but bring an extra dollar or two in case we have to park in the garage. This trip is in the interest of arranging carpools, so if you plan on meeting us at the theater that is welcomed, but please only join the trip if you want a ride or can help offer rides. I’ll up the attendees as drivers join.

We will depart from Echols at 3PM since the films start at 4. This will give us time to get organized, find parking, and get seats with a little extra cushion to check out the booths before the show starts.

Club provides:
Carpool to the Paramount.

You provide:
Admission ticket or money to purchase one at the door.
