OVERVIEW

This sun has me dreaming of a beach and I’ve never been to Virginia Beach so here we go! False Cape looks quite beautiful and (rumor has it) one of the cleanest beaches you’ll ever see. The logistics are a little funky because there is no public vehicle access to the park so we will be parking/starting at the Back Bay National Wildlife Refuge. And then we get to hike along the beach! Because of this, the timing is a little particular (thats why we are leaving early) as we are timing this with the tides. Soooo everyone who doesn’t have friday classes, this is for you! (Or if you do but maybe hypothetically its just a lecture thats recorded anyway so its not even skipping and you want to hike, not saying that I’ll be doing this of course but…..)

The current plan is to depart cville, arrive in Back Bay, start hiking along the beach ~5 miles until we reach our campsite. We can then hang out, make some din, enjoy the sunset over the bay, play some cards, some beach vball? Overall just have a wonderful beachy evening. The next day is our oyster (maybe we will even find one 😮). We can explore the trails that go through the park and into North Carolina. And there’s even the remains of the Wash Woods community that was all shipwreck survivors that we can explore….spooooooky. Saturday will be very much up to the group how much we want to beach time frolick before heading back to cville and hitting up the littest formal-ish everrrrrrrr🔥🔥🔥

To bring:
-backpacking backpack
-sleeping bag and sleeping pad
-Water! Bring a carrying capacity of 3 liters to be safe but it doesn’t need to be full as we will have opportunities to fill up from potable pumps along the way

-warm jacket / puffy (it may be chilly, beachy winds?)
-rain jacket
-headlamp
