Bear Church Rock Saturday Hike

OVERVIEW

Hey y’all,

Hope you enjoyed the awesome weather today as much as I did! Although we’re projected to get some more winter shenanigans midweek, Saturday is looking absolutely pristine. And what better way to capitalize off this mid-forties March weather than with a hike.

This 8.5 mile jaunt to the top of Bear Church Rock starts at the Rapidan River, then hugs the Staunton River, before finally venturing a steep climb up to the summit, where we’ll enjoy a full panoramic overlook of the mountains and vallies below. OH and there’s some alleged rock piles which, according to one trip reviewer on HU, might be the ruins of Civil War fortifications. Pretty sweet huh?

I’ll have to limit the trip to the number of available drivers. Also I need to research further whether we need to pay the SNP entrance fee. I’ll be updating those who join with these details and with weather updates closer to the weekend.
