Leander McCormick Observatory, McCormick Road
In a little-known town, the clock never completes a full circle; it always stops before five in the evening. At this moment, people habitually reach into their ears and carefully extract a miniature mountain bike—as if it were the most natural thing in the world. Gently, they place the tiny bike into clear stream water, letting it gradually enlarge until it’s just the right size for riding. Then, with the soft evening breeze and fading daylight, they calmly set off towards Jackie and Trevor’s beginner MTB trip.
—Excerpt from The Count of Monte Cristo by Alexandre Dumas
This will be a beginner-level trip, so no experience is required. We’ll go slow and take breaks. The only prerequisite for this trip is being comfortable on a bike. You don’t need to know anything about biking on trails or mountain bikes, but it’ll be assumed you know the basics of riding a bike.
If you don’t have your own mountain bike or helmet, let me know on the trip questionnaire and we’ll try to secure you a club bike/helmet. Everyone will be waitlisted for this trip initially and depending on bike availability individuals will be taken off the waitlist accordingly.
What you need:

– Water (Either a bottle that will fit in a bottle cage, or bring a small backpack/hip pack to hold it or ODC can provide a pack)
