Corner Of Echols Dorm
Ivy Creek Foundation, Earlysville Road, Charlottesville, VA, USA
Birding is a great way to connect with the natural world and anyone can do it, no matter the skill level. Ivy Creek is only 15 minutes away and is a great birding hotspot with many species. Birds are most active in the morning, so we will be leaving just after sunrise to have the best chance of seeing some nice birds. Ivy Creek has several interconnected trail loops, all of which are relatively short (about 1 mile) and easy. Several of the trails go out to the river, so we will try to see some water birds as well. The gear room only has three binoculars so if you have binoculars or a camera with a zoom lens definitely bring them, but you can also share binoculars or even try to identify bird calls by ear.
I recommend downloading the Merlin Bird ID app which can identify birds based on image, description, or sound!
The plan:

7:15 – look for BIRDS

9:15 – return to Echols
You should bring:

the three binoculars from the gear room
