OVERVIEW

Time to get back outside! Reeds Creek is a limestone climbing area with a good number of moderately graded sport routes in the 5.8 – 5.10 range (see Mountain Project: https://www.mountainproject.com/area/109444384/reeds-creek). Translation for those new to climbing: fun rock to touch with routes that are challenging (but often doable!) for many new climbers.

This is a combined beginner and intermediate climbing trip, which means I’ll be saving at least one spot for an experienced climber (someone who can lead, lead belay, and clean sport routes) and at least two spots for novice climbers. If you are a novice climber, we can get you touching some rock and top rope belaying by the end of the day. If someone else with a car signs up, I will expand the trip so we can bring more friends along.

Reeds Creek is a 2-2.5 hour drive from C’ville, so the plan is to head out early at 7am (folks can sleep in the car if needed) to maximize climbing time before returning to C’ville in the afternoon around 6pm. We’ll aim to get to the crag around 9:30am and climb until 4pm or so. You should bring all the personal gear you’ll need, along with water and some snacks/lunch.

PLEASE NOTE THAT THIS TRIP IS LEAVING FROM THE SAB AND NOT FROM ECHOLS. I’m honestly kind of tired of how cramped, crowded, and traffic-y things get with cars at Echols haha. If you don’t know where the SAB is, shoot me a text and I’ll make sure you get to the right place.

I’ll bring group gear including:
– quickdraws
– rope
– stick clip
– anchor building materials

YOU bring personal gear and rations:
– harness
– helmet
– climbing shoes
– ATC + locking biner
– chalk + chalk bag (optional, but recommended)
– PAS and/or other personal gear (optional)

Feel free to text me with any questions or concerns.
